How do I export sounds in Loopcloud?

Exporting has been streamlined in Loopcloud, and it’s now quicker and easier to get your sounds from Loopcloud straight into your DAW or a folder on your computer, so you can start working on your track in no time! 

There are a few important changes to exporting in Loopcloud which can be seen below.

Loopcloud now has just one button for exporting sounds, whereas Loopcloud previously had separate buttons for processed and original samples.

Now, you can either drag from this button to export your audio, or click on the button to copy your audio to your clipboard before pasting it onto any audio track within your DAW, or a folder on your computer. 

Your Export Preferences

You can now set your export preferences in Loopcloud, which will include the type of file you’d like to export (Current Mix, Original File, Processed Separate Files, Processed Current Track and Original Separate Files), whether dragging a file out using the Export button will hide Loopcloud or not, whether the files you export are normalized or not, whether you’d like to use a custom folder or not and the location of your custom folder, if you’d like to use this feature.

The type of file you’d like to export: 

Current Mix– This will export everything you can hear in Loopcloud when you hit play as one single file. This will include all 8 tracks in the multitrack, any effects or editing you’ve done and any pitch or tempo changes you’ve made. The file will be as long as the longest file in the multitrack. This option is great to use on anything from 1 single track to 8 tracks.

Original File– This will export the original version of the sound on the track you selected last, without any effects or editing you’ve done and any pitch or tempo changes you’ve made.

Processed Separate Files - This will export everything you can hear in Loopcloud when you hit play as separate files – one file for each track you have unmuted in the multitrack. This will include any effects or editing you’ve done and any pitch or tempo changes you’ve made. The files will be as long as you have them set in the multitrack, so each file may be a different length. This option is great for moving your sketches, ideas or song starters from Loopcloud to your DAW or a folder on your computer so you can get working on arrangement, or save them in a folder for later. You can also use this option to load your processed sounds into the sampler of your choice in one easy drag and drop.

Processed Current Track- This will export the processed version of the sound on the track you last selected, including any effects or editing you’ve done and any pitch or tempo changes you’ve made.

Original Separate Files - This will export everything you can hear in Loopcloud when you hit play as separate files – one file for each track you have unmuted in the multitrack. This will not include any effects or editing you’ve done and any pitch or tempo changes you’ve made. The files will be as long as you have them set in the multitrack, so each file may be a different length. This is a great option if you’d like to export the unprocessed sounds from your multitrack to process in your DAW later, or load them into the sampler of your choice in one easy drag and drop.

Dragging hides Loopcloud: 

This feature will minimise Loopcloud while you’re dragging from the Export button and is great for users with a single-screen set-up. If you make it so your DAW is sitting directly behind Loopcloud, this feature will allow you to start dragging, have Loopcloud hide itself and then drop your files straight into your DAW, whereas before you would have had to ALT/OPTION + TAB to get to the correct window for your DAW. 

Normalize: 

The normalize option will change the overall volume by a fixed amount to reach 0dBFS (with no inter-sample analysis). This does not affect dynamics like compression and does not change the sound in any way other than purely changing its volume. 

Use Custom Folder: 

This preference will save your exported sounds to a custom folder upon exporting if you have it enabled. This may be a general ‘Samples from Loopcloud’ folder on your computer or an Audio Files folder for a project you’re working on. Set this folder by clicking on the blue Change button to the right of the ‘custom folder’ preference. 

Export to Location:

This is just like hitting CTRL/CMD + S in your word processor or DAW. It’ll save your audio (using the selected export type) to wherever you choose in your operating system’s ‘save file' dialogue. You can name your file anything you’d like here. You can also access this option at any time by hitting CTRL/CMD + E in Loopcloud, as long as the audio in the multitrack has been purchased first.
